Anyway there is a lot I can say about Castlevania nes. First I would like to say just how damn good it is, from fighting Medusa head to, mummy men, Frankenstein, death himself, a giant bat and Dracula, this games got it all, and those are just the boss's there are a ton of variety of enemies as well.
I will now focus on the game play, of this game and let me just say its almost perfect, if it wasn't for the damn knock backs I would give the game play a 10, but it doesn't get that because every time you get knocked back, 90 percent of the time its into a damn hole where you die. I personally don't think that should be your greatest hazered in a castle full of monsters. Also I would like to point out the stairs are a menace certain staircases like in level 3, you will just all of a sodden fall off if your holding up to long and you die, you just fall right through and die how is that possible. Other then those two faults the game play is honestly perfect, basic but challenging and that's what I personally like.
The graphics get a big whopping 10/10, although today there not much to look at, well I like them better then most games today but that's not the point. For its time the graphics were great, the visuals did a very good job giving you a creepy atmosphere that sucked you in, and kept you wanting to see what the next area would look like, I was and still am thoroughly impressed.
These are the most annoying enemies next to Medusa heads |
The music in a nut shell it is magnificent and definitely does not get old thank you for a wonderful soundtrack, Konami I owe you one :P, 10/10 for sure.
All in all in the end, a 9.5/10 is what I give Castlevania nes, it honestly had everything and more, a perfect selection of enemies, cool creepy environments, neat boss's (my favorite being death that's so bad ass), and awesome music, but it falls short of a 10 only because of the knock backs the game. The game was hard but for all the wrong reasons, so in closing I just want to say this game is definitely worthy of the Castlevania series and worthy of its successors, so if your interested in a good game, and an entrance into an incredible series of games, hears where to start Castlevania 1 on the Nes.
9.5/10 (Stupendous) =E=
